[Exclusive Drop] 99.9% Fail DeepFake Detection Tests. Will You?
The life skill no one talks about.
Deepfake detection skills are table stakes in 2025 But many people can’t competently detect them.
And if you don’t know how to spot a deepfake, that makes you vulnerable.
Today, I’m giving you exactly what you need to build this skill:
Tips to spot deepfakes (image, video, voice)

What Are DeepFakes?
Deepfakes are weapons, used for manipulation, misinformation, and propaganda that can threaten democratic processes, cause reputational harm and create social unrest
.Often, the person who controls the narrative wins.
By developing the skill to discern truth from deception, you gain a vital competency that strengthens your ability to identify scams both in your personal life and at work.
This is the essential life skill no one talks about but everyone needs right now.

The Tips We All Know (But Bares Repeating)
The Source Credibility Check
You must immediately question the origins of explosive/viral media. Established media outlets offer a level of reliability that fringe sources simply do not
If a piece of content is depicting a major event, but the only coverage you can find comes from unknown or dubious sources, you have a massive red flag
. Verify the source first; everything else is secondary.
The Visual Imperfection Hunt
Deepfake algorithms are powerful, but they are not flawless. Become obsessed with detail.
Watch the Face: Look for irregularities in how the face moves during speech or any facial alignment issues.
Track the Light: The most telling flaw is often lighting. Inconsistent shadows, unnatural skin tones, or differing lighting between the subject’s face and the background strongly indicate tampering
Tips for DeepFaked Images
Inconsistent lighting or shadowing can indicate that the subject has been inserted into an environment rather than genuinely existing in that context.
Deepfakes often struggle with realistic skin textures. Look for overly smooth or unusually grainy skin that doesn’t match natural appearance.
Pay attention to the background. Blurry, distorted, or mismatched backgrounds can signal a manipulated image.
Tips for DeepFaked Videos
Deepfakes struggle to capture realistic eye movements or expressions, appearing static or unnatural compared to the rest of the image.
Deepfake technology often struggles to replicate natural human emotions. Watch for expressions that feel out of place or don’t match the context of the dialogue.
Perfection. Not everyone is a great photographer/videographer. If a viral video shows a bystander at the right place at just the right time with perfect shots. It’s probably deepfaked.
Deepfake videos are typically clips (10-20s) to maintain the illusion of authenticity. Be wary of videos that appear abruptly cut or focus only on specific, manipulated segments, as longer and more consistent content is typically more reliable.
Tips for Audio
If it sounds fake, it probably is. Deepfake audio frequently struggles to capture the natural rhythm and nuance of human speech.
Listen closely for any voice irregularities, especially unnatural cadence or inflection.
The dead giveaway I always look out for is poor slang pronunciation. Example: 24/7 (AI says: ‘24 slash 7’) or 200M (200 million) pronounced as ‘200 M’.
Completely Silent background. Genuine recordings pick up surrounding sounds. If a video features a person talking but the background is unusually silent or distorted, be wary. That silence is often evidence of a synthetic mask
Ready to Test Yourself?
Spotting deepfakes is a skill we can all build. In truth, we’ll have to. The quizzes I’m sharing will help you spot deepfakes today but as AI video improves, we’ll need to continue growing discernment testing ourselves and more advanced content.

This one and the stiff torso are my biggest tips. But they are getting better every month!
Spotting deepfakes is quickly becoming a core digital literacy skill. Combining source verification with visual, audio, and behavioral cues is essential to staying ahead of manipulation in both personal and professional contexts.
